I’m looking for a good used electric guitar (one that sells around ~$400 new) and a small practice amp. I liked the roland cube 20 watt amp when I tested guitars today, but it sells for $175.00 new! That means I’ll have to get a $225 guitar, but are there any good used guitars for that price?
A Couple Questions:
-How much should the amp and guitar cost on a $400 budget (basically, which should cost more and approximate how much should each cost)?
-Is $400 enough for a decent guitar and amp?
-I liked the Epiphone Les Paul Standard Cherry Sunburst. How cheap could I get a used one for?
Any comments on a good guitar or amp for a beginner who likes rock/alternative/classic rock/ a little metal would also be most appreciated!
Thanks!

Ok i use a diffrent currency but the guitar should be quality! Yes it may not seem so good on cheap amp but youl get new ones, The love for your first guitar remains i only play on my first guitar for 4 years now and i love her!
Ok you need too look for a guitar wich has a humbucker pickup ( not only like one thing but two pickups?) ask the shopkeeper. That will give you the most metal hard sensitive deep sound which you will want then lookf for a quality wood guitar with carbon fiber around ( buying a cheap body is useless and frustrating) and youl need to like how it looks.
Ill go for the Fender SQUIRE stratocasters ( strats are nice but you want the humbucker!)
And some fender amp if you cant afford better.
I love fender for its quality sound and looks and its always a good starting point
I got my first guitar at guitar center. They had a beginners kit that included a decent guitar and a less-than-decent amplifier. It cost $250; a really good price. Check if you have a guitar center in your area and go pick one up.
The Epi Les Paul has sold in bucket loads so there are plenty about used. Check out Ebay for the cheapest deals. Thy are very well made instruments. For an amp – look at the Line 6 range – digital modelling and loads of fx – priced for all pockets – have fun xx
A better choice than the Epiphone Les Paul which would sell at about £200($400) you can get a Rally Les Paul f used for as little as £80($160). I have both and i really do think that the Rally plays much better. It is made better and will not give any bother unlike the Epiphone where I have had to change the pick ups twice in a year! The Roland Cube is a perfect starter amp!for all kinds of music but especially music that is of a rock nature. Ypu will as you progress your skills have to upgrade into Marshalls and Randalls 250 watts to do your skills justice.Hope that helps.
