Ok..I am gonna learn and my dad is gonna teach me. My mom says she won’t buy me a guitar until she sees that I really love guitar. My dad has about 5 guitars…ummm…he has two fender electric guitars and three accoustics…I don’t know the brands because they are outside in the garage…he wants to start me on accoustic but I wanna start out on electric…whats a better type….the accoustics he has are too big for me…like the body is just huge and way too big for me…
By the way I had NO CLUE WHERE TO PUT IT!
Well my dad has a bigger accoustic because he is a big guy…but I told him I wanted to start on his yellow electric guitar and he said ok…

A gibson is what i bought my son when he started. It was used. Accoustics is better…… practice practice practice , listen and sit in with other guitar players to pick up licks!
idk i’ll ask my brother, he’s playing his electric guitar right now, but he’s been practicing since he was like 5 so it makes a difference…
well my little brother said accoustic (he doesn’t play…) and my brother that plays wont answer me because he’s annoying… well good luck and i hope you find a guitar, but i think maybe you should just get a different accoustic guitar…
Aww man you must be rich..lol
I think you should start with an acoustic… That’s what I used last year when I started, then I worked my way up to an electric one…
oh i’m a biginner and i have a fender squier.I play electric. but you could play a fender or gibson Stratocaster those are better than squier. electric when your sitting down its supposed to be on your thigh.
I wrote a short article that answers most of the questions you asked. It’s on how to pick out a guitar. The website is amillionguitars.com. (cheesy name, i know). Anyway, hope it helps.
i started out with a fender stratocaster
it’s probably one of the best for beginners but i wouldn’t recommend it for when you get really good~ and acoustic sucks it’s only good for playing chords and hey there delilah xD
I have a Hofner acoustic-electric dreadnought, which is kind of big. Probably your dad’s guitars are dreadnought size–it’s pretty popular. My sister has a Mexican or Spanish guitar , almost as small as some electrics, though a little thicker-bodied. That was a good size to start with.
I’d advise you start on an acoustic. It’s slightly easier, because you’re not messing with the tuning or anything.
Also, an acoustic is a better starting guitar because you can’t improve your sound with the amp and effects. You have to actually learn to play well. Once you know how to play, you’ll be alot better on an electric (if you decide to go that way) than you would be starting on an electric and maybe faking your way through things you couldn’t figure out right away.
If your dad’s acoustic guitars are really too big for you to reach the fretboard properly, you’ll have to either use a capo all the time or start on electric. If it’s just that the body of the guitar feels too big and uncomfortable under your arm, use one with a strap and play standing up. That’s how I got started.
Good luck, whichever style you choose, and have fun playing!
accoustics are the best to start out with!thats what i have!
